The mission of the TechSoup Foundation is to support civil society. We want to be a leader in providing civil society and related actors with the most advanced skills and knowledge to support digital transformation, civic engagement and youth engagement in a digital world. Our core programme to support digital transormation of non-governmental organisations is the TechSoup Poland Programme. As part of the implementation of the next strategy, we set ourselves the following strategic goals: Goal 1: To increase the visibility of the TechSoup Foundation and the TechSoup Poland Programme among NGOs and public institutions; Goal 2: To support institutional development and digital transformation of NGOs; Goal 3: To increase the quality and diversity of the TechSoup Foundation’s educational offer; Goal 4: To support NGOs and civil society through the implementation of educational programmes and activities in the area of civic engagement and youth involvement; Goal 5: To strengthen TechSoup Foundation''s international collaboration with institutional partners and trainers in the areas of digital transformation, civic engagement and youth engagement; Goal 6: To support socio-technological innovation (tech for good). The strategic objectives have been mapped to operational objectives and actions that relate to working with direct beneficiaries of our activities, foster the visibility of our organisation in the community, and are geared towards the internal development of the organisation and its staff, collaborators and network of our institutional partners. Monitoring of the strategy will be carried out at the level of a single project and a package of projects gathered under the strategic objectives, output indicators and result indicators. At the end of the 2-year implementation period of the strategy, we plan to carry out an evaluation study in which we will use the data provided by the monitoring.
Summary of project results
The project assumed support for the institutional development and statutory activities of the TechSoup Foundation. It supported the implementation of our strategy contributing to the development of the non-governmental sector. Our mission is to support civil society - we strive to be a leader in providing organizations with advanced skills and technological knowledge, we support civic engagement and youth engagement in the digital world. The main target group are non-governmental organizations. We work with both national organizations and local associations. Taking into account the number of non-governmental organizations in Poland (and the growing need for changes in the way organizations work and communicate with recipients, often forced by the external situation - e.g. a pandemic or resulting from the development of technology), there is a great demand for activities supporting organizations in digital development. As part of the implementation of the strategy for 2022-2024, we have set the following goals: GOAL1: Increasing the recognition of the TechSoup Foundation and the TechSoup Polska Program among non-governmental organizations and public institutions; OBJECTIVE2: Supporting institutional development and digital transformation of non-governmental organizations; GOAL3: Improving the quality and increasing the diversity of the FTS educational offer; GOAL4: Supporting non-governmental organizations and civil society by implementing educational programs and activities in the area of civic engagement and youth involvement; GOAL5: Strengthening the international cooperation of the TechSoup Foundation with institutional partners and trainers in the area of digital transformation, civic engagement and youth involvement; OBJECTIVE6: Supporting socio-technological innovations. Strategic goals were assigned operational goals and activities that concerned working with direct recipients, the recognition of our organization and the internal development of the organization, employees and institutional partners.
As part of the institutional grant, we have planned to implement the following activities: - Creating expert articles, substantive materials, infographics as substantive content used in communication with non-governmental organizations - we assumed the development of 70 materials. (the value was increased from 40) By April 30, 2024, 77 materials had been developed and published, which had 18,680 views and 14,763 unique users. - Development of a technological tool for diagnosing the digital needs of NGOs (Digital Assessment Tool – DAT). Pilot testing (evaluation) of the tool with min. 10 organizations (10 diagnoses will be created) and development of the final version of the tool. By the end of June 2023, a tool in Polish has been developed and is available online to all non-governmental organizations. The project tested the tool with 10 non-governmental organizations - Development of training programs and materials in the area of digital transformation for NGOs (areas: Digital Security, Fundrising, Program Management, Communication and Marketing, Operations and Cooperation, Equipment and Infrastructure) using the TechSoup Polska Program. Webinars and training for NGOs are conducted on the basis of these programs. We use the materials in our substantive work with NGOs. The project also included 6 webinars for the organization. - Conducting training for the FTS team in the area of digital transformation (6 training courses were conducted to prepare employees for further work with organizations using the TechSoup Polska Program). TOT training included: Digital Security, Fundrising, Program Management, Communication and Marketing, Operations and Collaboration, Equipment and Infrastructure). As part of the training, the expected increase in employee competences occurred. They were also an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss training programs addressed to NGO representatives.
Result: Non-governmental organizations gain access to materials in the area of digital transformation As part of the project, articles, infographics and expert materials on the use of technology in non-governmental organizations were developed. They were published in our channels and on the ngo.pl website and reached a wide group of organizations from all over Poland. Result: Non-governmental organizations gain access to a free tool in Polish for self-diagnosis of digital needs An online tool has been developed, which is available to all non-governmental organizations interested in their technological development in important areas of the organization''s operations. This will contribute to their professionalization and increased operational efficiency. Result: The TechSoup Foundation develops its educational base by creating training programs in the areas of Program Management, Fundraising, Communication and Marketing, Operations and Collaboration, Cybersecurity, Hardware and Infrastructure. These programs are used in work with non-governmental organizations from all over Poland Result: increase in the competences of the FTS team (in particular the TechSoup Polska Program) needed to support the transformation process. Thanks to participation in TOT training and external training, employees improved their competences, which affects the quality of their work with non-governmental organizations and allowed the foundation''s training activities to be expanded (e.g. to include AI training).
