The Violence Meter is a comprehensive prevention, education and support tool to prevent domestic violence, addressed to young people. We implement it at all stages of the project together with the target group. Numerous data show that young people, especially women aged 13-25, are the group most vulnerable to acts of sexual violence. In addition, research shows that people who lack support are more likely to suffer harm. Within the project, the Violence Meter will be used as a tool consisting of 3 elements. The first one is a bookmark used to identify violent behaviour by a partner. A ruler printed on the bookmark, on which, as the values along the measure increase, the behaviours attributed to each number are shown, will allow to quickly assess whether a relationship is healthy, or whether there is violence in it. The second element of the Violence Meter is an education and information portal. The website will contain a downloadable bookmark file and a visual representation of the behaviours included on the ruler. It will also contain information for those seeking help, those witnessing violence and those providing help. The third element is an alarm and help application for making contact through a direct connection with qualified personnel in the event of a psychological crisis. In line with the ‘nothing about us without us’ principle, young people are involved in designing the tool through competitions and partnerships with educational institutions. The Violence Meter was developed in Latin America, and in 2019 it was introduced to France thanks to the mayor of Paris, the Observatory on Violence Against Women in Saint-Denis and the organisation En Avant Toute(s). In Poland, it is introduced by the "Poster-women against violence against women" and Soroptimist International The First Club in Wroclaw.
