Description

The aim of Screen-O transfer project is to increase the company’s competitiveness by improving the production capacity for paperboard containers using new eco-friendly machines. The target is to increase the production capacity and manufacture greener products for food service industry at national level. To achieve this goal, the company proposes a technical solution which requires new equipment.

The planned technical solution will produce an alternative, greener solution, for the current products used in the food service industry. It will create a new level of efficiency, in accordance with the market demand and with European Union’s regulations regarding the plastic reduction trends. That includes applying innovative green technologies, decrease annual energy consumption and decrease CO2 emissions/equivalents. The project is also expected to lead to a greener production flow, skills improvement in the workforce and more cost-efficient business operations. The key activities are:

  • Project management by the internal team with the support of a consultant.
  • Investment activity related to the new equipment.
  • External consultancy, including financial audit.
  • Project publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

The expected outcomes of the project include CO2 to annually decrease from 285 tonnes in 2019 to 178 tonnes in year end of 2022. For the same period, energy consumption is expected to decrease from 907,2 megawatt-hour to 435,46 megawatt-hour. Annual re-use of processed waste for other operational processes is estimated to increase from 9,4 tonnes in 2019 to 56,4 tonnes in 2022. Finally, the project is expected to lead to a creation of 11 new jobs.

Screen-O Transfer rules and procedure include zero tolerance towards corruption and full transparency and declares full commitment to non-discrimination and equal treatment.

Summary of project results

The company succeeded to improve the production capacity for paperboard containers using new eco-friendly machines. New equipment has been procured and now is used for extension of production capacity: paper cup forming equipment, double wall paper cup forming equipment, paper box, paper cup, automatic cup lids thermoforming equipment, die cutting and stamping machine, die cutting roll to sheet equipment. 15 new employees have been hired in order to use the equipment in the production process.
