Description
The general objective of the project is to increase economic competitiveness of Sunimprof Rottaprint and to reduce the environmental impact of the products and processes through development and improvement of environmentally friendly packaging products with the help of new greener technologies. The project is responding to the needs of the market and is correlated with the company''s short and long-term strategy. The company aims to deliver to the market innovative new labels at a very high quality and complexity.
In order to achieve these goals, the company needs to prepare and install new equipment. The new state-of-the-art equipment requires lower energy consumption and reduces technological waste. The most important activities in the project are to improve the business indicators of the company by reducing production costs, increasing the production capacity, expand the range of products to other markets and reduce the energy consumption and materials consumption of the current production of labels.
Expected outcomes include an annual decrease in energy consumption from 3.076 MWh in 2017 to 2.934 MWh in 2022. Consumption of materials is also expected to annually decrease from 188 tonnes to 178 tonnes for the same period. The new technologies will also allow a much better control of the process. Finally, the project is expected to generate 6 new jobs.
Summary of project results
By purchasing new state-of-the-art equipment with low energy consumption, the company managed in a short time to significantly reduce technological waste, to improve the productivity of printers and the quality of their work and increase the quality of value-added products. All this helping them reduce:
• energy consumption by 151,872 MWh/year
• the consumption of raw materials by 36.94 tons/year
• the quantity of process waste by 18.37 tons/year
• the project increased turnover and profitability of the company involved.
The company has also managed to develop three new and highly innovative products to their portfolio such as smart labels based on technology such as RFID, EAS and metal tags as well as new procution lines for these
