Description

The project aims to increase the competitiveness of the company by extending the production capacity for Trip Trap chairs manufacturing. The project will focus on increasing the current production capacity, along with the development and implementation of a green solution for the chair production, based on new technologies and equipment that will lead to less energy consumption, less CO2 emissions and a safer environment for the human resources involved in the process.

The objectives include an increase in Trip Trap chair production capacity from 1.200 to 1.600 pieces a day, using less material consumption and generating lower CO2 emissions by implementing a new technology in the production flow. Sortilemn SA also want to develop the bilateral relations in order to increase the know-how, expertise and good practices of the company. Key activities include:

  • Project management.
  • Investment activity which includes purchasing, delivering, and setting up of the main equipment.
  • Partner ‘s activity.
  • Project audit by external auditor.
  • Project promotion to promote the project.

Expected outcomes include an estimated annual decrease of CO2 emissions from 11.653,44 tonnes to 10.488,10 and estimated annual decrease in energy consumption from 12.694,96 megawatt-hour to 11.425,46 megawatt-hour.
Gender equality is embedded within the company’s criteria for selection of new staff. The company declares that the recruitment process is solely based on skills and abilities.


The project is done in partnership with the Norwegian company Stokke AS which is recognized worldwide for children furniture. They will provide professional advice regarding the technology aspect and coordinate with the company regarding project process implementation. Will also transfer knowledge regarding how to operate the machines and equipment for production.

The partner has provided assistance regarding design and operational parts for the new equipment, ensuring that it meets the technical requirements for the manufacturing of the Trip Trap chairs. The partnership has therefore been important for the development and implementation of a successful and strategic project.
