XSEALENCE (www.xsealence.pt) is a Portuguese SME in the Blue Economy that develops activity with a strong international vocation (50 to 80% of results) with a small team with dominant skills in the field of engineering (Electronics, Technology and information and communications).
In the strategic plan, the company identifies the following external threats:
-Need for international deployment to solidify the business.
-Highly competitive global market, where there are players with well-established commercial activities and high lobbying capacity
-Lack of specialized human resources in the market, and consequent difficulty in hiring new employees.
In response to these threats, the company aims to increase the level of its international activity and plan the corresponding organic growth.
This objective is fully in line with the main objective of the Blue Growth Programme, which is to increase value creation and sustainable growth in the Portuguese blue economy.
The Project aims to implement a training plan for the company''s employees in order to prepare the XSEALENCE team for the short and medium term goals of increasing the level of international activity and organic growth through an executive and technological training plan .
The project should significantly contribute to improve international business management and entrepreneurial skills, as well as developing technical capabilities in technologies that provide opportunities for innovation in global products/markets.
Summary of project results

In the strategic plan, the company identified the following external threats:
• -Need for international growth to solidify business;
• -Highly competitive global market, where there are players with well-established commercial activities and high lobbying capacity;
• -Shortage of specialized human resources in the market, and consequent difficulty in hiring new employees.
In response to these threats, the company aims to increase the level of its international activity and plan corresponding organic growth.
To achieve this objective and mitigate the afore mentioned external threats, the company decided to invest in the qualification of its employees through a strong focus on training of excellence to improve business and international business management skills, as well as developing technical capabilities in technologies that provide opportunities for innovation of global products/markets.
This project has allowed the company to execute a training plan for the company''s employees with the aim of preparing the XSEALENCE team for the short and medium term objectives of increasing the level of international activity and organic growth through an executive and technological training plan .
The Training Plan was directed at the Management and R&D team and included 7 training programs in business management/development area and 7 training programs in the technical expertise area.
The training program, besides fulfilling the direct and specific results of each training program, has overall contributed to improve participants confidence and commitment to the company’s near and medium-term plans.
The training program also created a longer-term conviction on the need and benefits of future training programs in both vectors of expertise as a continued process in the company’s strategy to address the challenges identified above.
