Description

In this project, we will involve 98 people in the process of actively shaping the programme offer of 12 public cultural institutions. We want to achieve this by creating 12 teams consisting of employees of cultural institutions and involving them in the process of public consultations with residents in accordance with the idea of co-creation. During this process, we will invite the recipients of cultural activities (local residents) to share their opinions on the activities of specific cultural institutions. The result of the project will be a better cultural offer and a greater sense of agency of those directly involved in this process. We will train people engaged in the project in inclusive public consultation techniques and methods of researching the experience of the audience. In addition, as part of the project we want to promote a co-creative approach to consulting the programmes of public cultural institutions. We will develop a manual on how to conduct co-creation processes in the public sector and a policy brief for decision makers implementing cultural policies. We will conduct additional educational workshops for 45 people. We will carry out a study to diagnose the practices of cultural institutions in terms of involving the audience in designing their cultural offerings. We will also carry out an information campaign promoting the project, the materials developed as part of the project and the idea of co-creation in public consultations.

Summary of project results

The main goal of the project was to actively involve 98 people from 12 Małopolska communes in the process of actively shaping the program offer of 12 public cultural institutions. We planned to achieve this goal by leading 12 teams, consisting of employees of cultural institutions, through a process of consultation with residents conducted in accordance with the idea of co-creation. During it, the recipients of the institution''s activities (local residents) were encouraged to share their opinions on the activities of specific cultural institutions. Based on these meetings and conversations, teams of cultural institutions developed ideas for improving their offer (including completely new ventures).

The direct effect of the activities was therefore to be "better" cultural offers and a sense of agency on the part of the residents, who were directly involved in the process. Moreover, as part of the process, cultural workers were trained in inclusive consultation techniques and methods of examining the audience''s experience.

The direct effect of the activities are "better" cultural offers in 12 institutions (on behalf of which 68 employees took part in the project) and a sense of agency on the part of residents, directly involved in the process (88 people in total). Moreover, as part of the project, another 35 cultural sector employees were trained in inclusive consultation techniques and methods of researching audience experience. We also aimed to broadly promote a co-creative approach to consulting programs of public cultural institutions. To achieve this, we have developed:
- a manual on conducting co-creation processes in the public sector in the sphere of culture;
- policy brief intended for decision-makers operating in the area of cultural policies;
- a report summarizing our original research on the diagnosis of the practices of cultural institutions in terms of including recipients in the design of the cultural offer;
- an information campaign promoting the project, the above materials and the idea of co-creation in public consultations (including a series of educational articles on our blog and a video series presenting the work techniques we use).
