Description

Roma youth from Botevgrad municipality are isolated from public life and are very rarely involved in public initiatives. The aim of the project is to build the capacity of 15 young people of Roma origin to start formulating public policy proposals to local authorities and to participate in advocacy campaigns before the institutions.

As part of the project, representatives of the MAG-Botevgrad Association will hold a series of meetings with a wide range of representatives of the Roma community to identify leaders among them. After that, these young people will be trained, will be acquainted with the functioning of municipal authorities and will prepare proposals to the municipality for the formation of local policies and initiatives.

As a result of the project, the needs are expected to be assessed in five priority areas for the Roma community in the region: education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure and culture. After that, specific proposals will be prepared to improve the situation in these areas and they will be submitted to the municipality of Botevgrad.

The project is expected to help build the capacity of local youth leaders. On the other hand, as a result of the project it is possible to improve the situation of settlements with a predominant Roma population in some of the listed areas.

The project partner is the municipality of Botevgrad, which will provide premises for holding meetings on the ground. The training of young Roma will be held at a municipal base. The second partner of the project is "New Media Info", which will contribute to the dissemination of information and results of the project.
