Description

Main objective of the project is to introduce environmentally friendly technology for CRT recycling of CRT (cathode ray tubes) thorough investment in a new CRT recycling line. Secondary objectives: 1. Improving economical efficiency of CRT recycling process by including the cathode tube treatment and direct sell of resulting fractions; 2. Reducing environmental impact of CRT recycling process by treatment of cathode tubes in a controlled environment; 3. Reducing risks of injury hazard and healthier environment for the workers involved in CRT recycling process due to changes that will be implemented in the production system; 4. Increased collection and improved handling of hazardous waste from dismantling of WEEE by applying B(est) A(available) T(echnology) from Norwegian companies.

Summary of project results

The project has helped the Project promoter to increase competitiveness and extend the production capacity. It increased the capacity to recycle CRT glass and plastic fractions from WEEE, which could be reused as raw materials. As the result of project implementation, 400 tons of CRT glass were recycled and transformed it in raw material for concrete products. Also 315 tones of clean plastic were sorted, out of which 85 tones of nonferrous material have been obtained. 10 new jobs have been created thanks to the project and 430 tons of CO2 were saved from CRT recycling and from transport.

Summary of bilateral results

Bilateral relation between the Project promoter and Norwegian partner was based on the pure transfer of technology, know-how and experience. Through the project activities implemented, the Project promoter had the opportunity to work together with the Tronurud's engineers in design of new recycling plant. Seminars and training session have been organised in Lean management, which contributed to an increased productivity in the unit.
