More information

Description

The project aims at building a waste water treatment plant in order to prevent negative consequences on the environment caused by the factory’s manufacturing activity. The investment has two components, the Waste Water Treatment Unit, and a new polishing line, which will replace the polishing line from procured in 1993. The installment of a WWTP improves the effectiveness of water usage for production purposes. It is estimated that there will be at least 10 times reduction of water usage as well as an environmental effect on water management. The plant will allow repeated circulation of water in the manufacturing process through purification and reuse. This will lead to a reduction of the company’s expenditure on water usage and discharge, which will further lead to higher competitiveness.

Summary of project results

The company’s goal was to build a waste-water treatment plant to prevent negative consequences on the environment caused by the factory’s manufacturing activity. The aim was also to improve the effectiveness of water usage for production purposes. During the project planning phase, it was estimated that there will be 5 to 10 times reduction of water usage, as well as an environmental effect on water management. The plant would allow repeated circulation of water in the manufacturing process through purification and reuse. This would lead to a reduction of the company’s expenditure on water usage and discharge, which will further lead to higher competitiveness. The building of a WWTP would also enable the company to meet a series of environmental requirements in view of the obligation it has to EU directives and national legislation. During the project duration, all previously planned indicators were achieved and even exceeded. The figures for 2016 show data that exceeded the planned indicators. Month by month, the data for the water used for production needs is as follows: January – 3m3; February – 20m3; March – 39m3 ; April – 114m3; May – 138m3; June – 129m3; July – 142m3; August – 118m3; September – 131m3; October – 127m3; November – 121m3; December – 70m3; Total: 1 152m3 (baseline of 50 000m3 per year).

Summary of bilateral results

The joint efforts with the Norwegian partner International Development Norway (IDN) contributed to the overall success of the project, supporting the beneficiary with know-how and proposed technological solutions. Both partners are willing to further deepen their cooperation focusing on the development of future projects with the aim of further advancing the technological and know-how base of Cherkezov Ltd.
