Description

According to statistics, poverty is affecting a quarter of young Romanians while 40% of them are at risk of social exclusion. In Vaslui County, which is one of the poorest regions in Romania, those with higher education do not face such problems. Young people who do not finish high school and have no diploma however, face major challenges. The main objective of the project is preventing early school leaving for 10 and 11th graders. The project will target 180 young people at risk of exclusion im 3 high schools in Vaslui County. The project also aims at increasing the graduation rate of these young people in the baccalaureate, as well as the improvement of their access to the labour market. It promotes activities that bring young people and parents together and contribute to the personal development of all those involved, including teachers.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to improve the situation of 200 vulnerable young people (from X grade to XII grade) who were at risk of school dropout, from 3 high schools from Vaslui County, in order to achieve their social inclusion. During the project implementation period 200 young people attended educational activities, such as remedial activities (mathematics, Romanian language and Geography / History classes) and counselling and professional orientation, according to their needs. During the project their activity was monitored and adapted if needed. In the second part of the project, about 179 young people and 22 parents participated at common camp where they took part together in different types of non-formal activities. The young people along with their teachers from all three high schools organized each three workshops on non-discrimination behavior/communication and carrier counselling, where all of them attended. The Project Promoter organized during the implementation period, a non-formal training for 60 teachers and parenting courses for 90 parents. There was also drafted a market research regarding integration degree of young people on labor market from Vaslui County. This study was disseminated at the conferences and meeting organized and it was also published on the web-site of the project.
