Through the project ” Volunteering- a Value in Your Community”, Solidarity and Hope Foundation Iasi - Săvineşti branch aims to support NGOs working with vulnerable target groups from Săvineşti and 8 surrounding localities, in order to develop the volunteer management capacity, to attract and maintain existing volunteers, and to expand their range of services through combined measures of information, awareness, training and counseling of their leaders, volunteer coordinators, volunteers and members. The direct beneficiaries of the project, NGOs from the above mentioned localities lack the qualified staff to meet community needs, have low capacity to meet demand for services because of too many beneficiaries, reduced training and information opportunities, weak support the community members, etc. The Foundation, through its expertise and experience, its specialized human resources, through the support it has from the local community wants to support these NGOs that work in similar conditions in order to become important factors of community development.
Summary of project results
The project met the stringent training and development needs of the rural organisations from Neamt county. It comprised measures in the social field, in order to cover the increasingly large requests of social services in the communities they serve. The objectives were to support NGOs working with vulnerable groups from Săvineşti and from 8 surrounding localities, in order to develop their volunteer management capacity, to attract and maintain volunteers, and to expand their range of services through combined measures of information, awareness, training and counseling of their leaders, volunteer coordinators, volunteers and members. The activities consisted in promoting volunteering and organising training courses on volunteer management, social-educational animation, handcraft techniques. Follow-up activities were organised, in order for the participants to receive advice on applying in their own organisations the knowledge and skills achieved in the training courses. Project ended with a Social Solidarity Fair, which brought together 85 participants from 28 NGOs and public institutions from Neamt, Bacau and Iasi counties. During the fair, beneficiary NGOs had the opportunity to interact with other NGOs and institutions, to exchange experience and expertise, to share ways of ensuring sustainability, to show the community their services offer. The main results of the project were 33 leaders, volunteer coordinators and volunteers from NGOs from rural areas trained in various areas relevant to non-governmental organisations in the social field, the increased interest of the participating NGOs in self-supporting activities and in involving volunteers in their programs. The event which promoted NGOs - Social Solidarity Fair, with positive reception among the associative environment, is intended to become a regular activity of Solidarity and Hope Foundation, Săvineşti.
