Summary of project results

The activities aimed at organisational development and the consolidation of the members’ and volunteers’ community around FILIA organisation, as well as their involvement in awareness raising actions promoting gender equality, human rights, antidiscrimination, the prevention and eradication of gender based violence, racism, xenophobia and homophobia. The mentoring programme included in the project was conducted continuously during the project and has provided favorable cooperation between organisation members and volunteers in regards to project implementation of activities. The volunteers had the opportunity to engage in one of the organisation's recurrent public actions on the 25th of November - campaign against violence against women. They promoted messages combating violence against women and organised a flashmob. Volunteers disseminated leaflets with legislative information and messages that encourage combating violence against women. Volunteers also disseminated flyers on 8th of March with information regarding the status of women in Romania and they encouraged citizens to take action for gender equality. Volunteers organised a flashmob to raise awareness about the importance of recognising and minimising hate speech during the electoral campaign. The flashmob took place in a widely circulated park (Herăstrău) and it had a positive feedback. Another new activity was volunteers' involvement in organising and supporting the 4 reading circles on gender issues. Reading circles' topics were: Femininity and masculinity in advertising, About prostitution, censorship and pornography, Feminism in Romanian History, Women in politics. Also, they organized 5 workshops with a total of 90 participants, with different speakers active in the human rights field, on the following subjects: "How Romanians hate? Hate speech in Romania", "Sexual harassment in public space and online", "Violence against women in Romanian songs and videoclips", "Human trafficking – sexual slavery. Between myths and realities", "The movement for Roma women’s rights".
