Description

The project „Active women in Inter-ethnical communities” wishes to promote the active participation of women in the life of the communities, especially the roma population, by creating 5 Local Groups of Women (LGW) that will get involved in improving the life quality in the community that they live in. We will deliver trainings of „Parental/citizenship Education” for 100 women (50% Roma population) from 5 communities with roma population, with the purpose of positively moderating the abilities of being a good parent and a good citizen. There will be implemented 5 „Plans for Community Development” by the LGW in order to improve the life quality in the local community, with the involvement of the public, privat and civil stakeholders from local and county level, in 5 communities in Iasi county with roma population.

Summary of project results

The purpose of this project was to promote the active participation of women in the life and dynamics of their community, through establishing 5 local women's groups (GLF), each consisting of 20 members. The 100 women (out of which 53 Roma) from 5 communities with GLF (Ciurea, Dolhesti, Mironeasa, Miroslovesti and Motca - Iasi County) attended classes of parental and community education. The members of each GLF have been actively involved in improving the life quality of their community. The women were supported to gain a voice in their community without denying traditions, acquiring improved ways of managing household and raising their children. Each GLF conducted its own analysis of community needs, designed a Community Development Plan and 25 community activities were implemented in the 5 targeted localities. 10 public campaigns were organised in Iasi County in Motca, Miroslovesti, Ciurea, Mironeasa, Dolhesti, Stolniceni Prajescu, Lungani, Holboca, Grajduri, Raducaneni. The campaigns aimed to stimulate interest for social inclusion, anti-discrimination, reduce inequities and promote diversity. A County Support Network, consisting in 22 specialists (representatives of NGOs, public institutions, local authorities from the 10 above-mentioned villages) was set up in order to address issues like social inclusion, anti-discrimination, reducing inequalities, promoting diversity, promoting women's rights and active citizenship in terms of public-private partnership. The network is also pursuing and combating discriminatory practices and social exclusion of disadvantaged groups. The members of the network attended the activities of the GLFs both as a resource and also as experts for different areas.
