Description

Project description: Jawar is known for producing stainless steel chimney systems. The project supported by GII programme consists of two parts: research part and investment part. First of them assumes development of the “green chimney”, called “Jawar Nord”. It will lead to heating energy savings of up to 5%. Investment part leads to implementation of fiber laser cutting and welding technology at the production of Jawar’s steel chimneys. The technology of fibre reduces the energy cost by 80% comparing to traditional CO2 laser which is using in Jawar right now. Partners: The project will be implemented in cooperation with Pipe Eksperten AS. Project objectives: • Development of new "green ceramic chimney system". • Installed power of cutting and welding machines in the production line (KW) 155 to 32 Outcome indicators: • Number of environmental technologies successfully applied for use in new areas - 2 • Reduction in CO2 emissions – 164 tones/ year

Summary of project results

The project, implemented in cooperation with a Norwegian company Pipe Eksperten AS, consisted of two parts. The first one involved development of a “green chimney”, called “Jawar Nord”, producing heating energy savings of up to 5%. The chimney has been tested at the reputable external laboratory TÜV München Institute. It has also received the Norwegian SP Fire Research (Sintef) product documentation. The investment part was aimed at implementation of innovative and environmental friendly technologies of fibre laser cutting and welding. The technology of fibre reduces the energy cost by 80% compared to traditional laser used in Jawar earlier. Annual saving in CO2 emission estimated to 164 tons/year.

Summary of bilateral results

Effective cooperation between Polish and Norwegian entities was a key factor for success and an excellent example of bilateral partnership. Thanks to the bilateral activities within the project Polish partner - Benefited from knowledge transfer activities during the research phase - Got access to technical expertise and technologies - Received access to the Norwegian market Norwegian partner - Developed new solutions and products in cooperation with Polish partner - Broadened own product portfolio on the Norwegian market - Received support to perform joined R&D works and got access to its results
