Creation of a smart energy management network was the main objective of the project implemented in cooperation with, among others, Trøndelag Forskning og Utvikling AS and Leksvik Industriell Vekst AS. The so called "green pool" reduces electrical energy demand by replacing the traditional electric cooling devices in the swimming pool with new ones powered by heat energy. The objective has been achieved through the application of tri-generation and cogeneration technologies, heat recovery from pool waste water, and an innovative solution aimed at improvement of the water quality in the swimming pools.
