Description

The overall project objective is: improvement of the access to quality medical and psychological care for sexual and reproductive health of adolescents aged 10 to 19 with a specific focus on vulnerable groups, in particular the Roma population. The specific project objectives are: establishment of a Centre for family planning, sexual and reproductive health for improvement of the access and quality of care for patients from the target groups and their families’ training; increase of the access to medical information and assistance on sexual and reproductive health issues, in compliance with their age; prevention on sexually transmitted infections.

Summary of project results

After the project realization there is a Centre for family planning, sexual and reproductive health for improvement of the access and quality of healthcare for patients from the roma groups. The center is furnished and equipped with four rooms for patients, two medical cabinets and a conference room that will be used for medical and psychological help and support for the sexual and reproductive health and family planning of young people from the target group. 604 girls (more than 50% roma) were probed for sexual transmitting infections and had a gynecological consultation. 96 young people (more than 50% roma) passed counselling with medical specialists and psychologist for sexual health and family planning. 32 activities took place with aim on the health education for the target groups (more than 50% roma). The active campaigns in the roma neighborhoods created contacts and confidence between the medical specialists and the young girls and boys. The contacts with the NGO and the schools in the roma neighborhoods conducive to the promotion of activities of the Centre. The most important result is the improvement of the access to quality medical and psychological care for sexual and reproductive health of adolescents aged 10 to 19 with a specific focus on vulnerable groups, in particular the Roma population.
