Description
The unfavorable demographic trends in Mezdra municipality and the decreasing number of children in preschool and school, including Roma, determine the need for targeted policy to increase the educational level of children and young people.The main objective of the project is the improvement of the welfare of children at risk in the municipality, by creating a suitable environment for the conduct of educational process as a precondition for successful social and educational integration. The project is expected to achieve better preparation for school for vulnerable children, including Roma. Realization of the above objective will be achieved through the following specific objectives: Improved conditions for equal access to educational process; conduction of additional activities with 760 children (aged 3 to 6 years old, main target group); training of 20 educational specialists and 2 Roma mediators ( second target group); implementation of initiatives for social inclusion and mutual understanding; involvement of parents (second target group) and stakeholders in the educational and social integration of children.
Summary of project results
On 18.07.2014. was signed a contract № D03-349 / 18.07.2014. which of it the Project BG06-202 "Together we can more - to improve the well-being of children at risk on the territory of Mezdra Municipality", Component 2 "Children at risk" of the BG06 Program "Children and youth at risk" under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2009 -2014. between the Ministry of Education and Science and the beneficiary Mezdra Municipality, was started. The value of the project was 220 194.00 euro. With the realization of the project was improved the well-being of children at risk from the five kindergardens on the territory of Mezdra Municipality, a suitable environment for successful social and educational integration was created. Improved conditions for equal access to the educational process were improved. Two Roma mediators were appointed to facilitate work with children and families at risk of the Roma ethnic minority. 15 pedagogical specialists and Roma mediators have been trained to work with disadvantaged children under Component 3. The physical environment in kindergardens has improved, equipment and furnishings, teaching aids, sports teams and dance costumes have been purchased. During the implementation of the project three informational press conferences, one round table and three forums were held. On the initiatives for social inclusion and mutual acquaintance of the children at risk, they visited: 4 theaters, 2 Green schools, 2 visits to Sofia Zoo, Museum Sofia, 3D Cinema in Sofia, Entertainment Center "Djambalaia" Veliko Tarnovo and "Patilantzi" Sofia, two-day excursion - Pleven, Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo, Vrachanski Balkan "Alley of Tales". Bicycles, picnics and Easter workshops were organized. The implementation of the project involved parents and stakeholders in the process of educational and social realization of children. Public attitudes towards greater tolerance towards children at risk in the territory of the Mezdra Municipality were changed.
