Description

The condition of lobelian lakes in Poland is unsatisfactory. Currently, there are no standards available for their effective protection and knowledge is lacking concerning the condition of approximately 30% of the lakes. The objective of the project is to develop a background for comprehensive protection of lobelian lakes in Poland and to improve knowledge of the resources and condition of the habitat as well as to implement a standard model for its protection. The project will provide a background for the effective protection of lobelian lakes in Poland and will help improve knowledge of their condition. The experiences gained in the project may also be applied to areas outside the scope of this project. The project will achieve these aims through improving knowledge; active protection; orienting the tourist traffic; creating a platform for the exchange of experiences; organising meetings; and increasing environmental awareness of the local societies. The local society and institutions that administer the lakes and their surrounding areas are expected to benefit.
