Description

This project is needed to help improve the environmental education of young people from different backgrounds in Poland, through direct contact with nature using as a base the school youth hostels. The project aims to increase public awareness and education on biodiversity and ecosystems actions. It also aims at raising the level of, and increase the interest in, school youth hostels as a base for educational. The project foresees the implementation of a series of actions, including a series of nationwide workshops, natural, competitions, and tours and trainings for teachers, directors and managers of youth hostels. This is a nationwide project which includes 15 resorts in Poland, and whose recipients will be primarily children and young people and teachers, local government workers and members of non-governmental organizations.

Summary of project results

All activities planned within project have been implemented, the final report has been approved. Results of implementation of the entire project: Increasing environmental and public awareness of biodiversity and education about biodiversity (Number of people who have participated in educational activities and promoting the conservation of biodiversity: 63 886); increasing social awareness and education regarding the links between biodiversity and climate change and the economic valuation of ecosystems; development of social attitudes and ecological behavior and increase public involvement in the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems. Within the project the following activities were implemented: organization of competitions, educational workshops, trainings for teachers, seminars devoted to Nature 2000 and biodiversity, publication of the website.
