Description
Under this project SIA “Greeneu” will develop a new product, sapropel forage premix with organic substances and micro-elements, as required. The product will be produced using new technology, extracting water contained in lake sapropel (raw material) with binary ice. Both the product and the technology will be patented within the framework of the project. Within the framework of the project, study with yeast cells will be carried out acquiring recipe of the ideal content of the premix (commercial product). Premix tests will be developed in Norwegian company's fishery and pilot equipment for production of the product will be developed and tested. Former methods for production of sapropel premix are expensive and non-effective. The expected project result will materialize in commercial product with specific efficiency parameters, developed pilot equipment that later may be scaled to begin mass production thereof. The projects’ goal corresponds to aims specified in Sustainable Development Strategy of Latvia until 2030.
Summary of project results
The company Greeneu in Latvia received the Norway grant support that allowed to develop new type of product - sapropel forage premix with organic substances and micro-elements. There is a growing interest in Latvia’s market about the sapropel properties and it opportunities. The company has decided to use efficient production method – separation of water to be eliminated using binary ice by destroying colloid grating of sapropel. This method is ecologic, effective and allows preserving valuable content of raw material, adding filtrate. The acquired product contains more organic substances and micro-elements, compared to products offered by competitors. The company is sure that its new product has big potential in food industry.
