Description

The project will strengthen capacity of the association Bolderaja group and its partner to ensure regular and long-term participation of NGOs in the policy making and decision-taking processes. It will promote society’s participation in urban planning, monitoring of construction of important infrastructure objects, drafting of municipal decisions and normative acts protecting interests of various groups, avoiding discrimination based on age, gender, nationality, etc. Within the project a guides cooperation network will be created enhancing self-organisation of the local community and its cooperation with other neighbourhoods in identifying, maintaining, and creative development of natural and cultural heritage promoting inclusion of the surroundings in the culture map of Riga City. The project will promote cooperation of local inhabitants in identifying the local natural and cultural heritage. The project target group is NGOs, inhabitants of Bolderaja and its neighbourhood.

Summary of project results

The goal of project has been achieved - civil society in the suburb of Riga - Bolderaja and coming neighbourhoods has been strengthened: The legal support was given to citizens in the field of environmental advocacy area - continuing two proceedings, preparing proposals and helding working groups for the two documents of Cabinet of Ministers - the Cabinet of Ministers Order No 163, 04.17.2014 (prot. No.23 20.§) "The vessels entering the Riga port access channel reconstruction acceptance "and Cabinet of Ministers Regulations amendments " individual protection and use regulations of Ķemeri national park". During public discussions over 9461 signatures of citizens were collected; approximately 600 people took part in three public discussion meetings. Eventually if the organization would not kept citizens intensively informed about participation opportunities in public discussions for Environmental Impact Assessment for the oil terminal, they would remain completely excluded from participation. The cooperation between "Bolderaja group" and local citizens were also implemented into identifying the cultural heritage of the vicinity - a guide network was extended - for the trainings attended more than 200 people in three years, for excursions - several hundred of people, six exhibitions were realized, 12 advisory panels were prepared, more than 20 excursions and route workshops were led - more than 270 people took part in those excursions and route workshops, the training and experience exchange trip to Daugavpils was organized in year 2015. Different public activities were realized - cultural projects that contributed to the inclusion of the neighborhood of the city of Riga into the cultural event map (60 visitors in 2013 at the office opening event, more than 2,000 visitors during the White Night 2014, around 200 visitors at the Museum Day event in 2014, more than 900 visitors in 2015 publicity events. All together 3160 visitors): Also initiations of a new projects - in cooperation with the initiating ISSP (International Summer School of Photography), the Bolderāja Music and Art School Support Association, the association "Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art", the Kaņepes Culture Centre, "Daugavpils Gunshot Factory", the History of War of Baltic, Swedish Historical Reconstruction Group of "LifeCompagniet", many NGOs of Riga environs.
