Description

Poverty is one of the most painful problems in Latvia; it gets more acute in Latgale region,especially in Aglona district. The consequences of poverty are particularly hard on children, young people and families with children. Children and young people's poverty is particularly dangerous because their quality of life influences the country's future. The project aims to promote prosperity and reduce the risk of social exclusion in Aglona by involving children, young people and families with children to learn creative and social skills. The project's aim will be achieved by organizing summer camps, creative workshops, hobby workshops, work and life skills classes, informative educational activities for children and youth–"School of Motivation”, for parents–"School of Life"; providing expert consultations; involving teaching and support staff; creating peer support groups; promoting volunteering; organizing publicity. The main project target groups are Association members, youth, children and families with children.

Summary of project results

The project "Support Measures for Social Exclusion in Aglona /Population Activities for Aglona" is needed because there is the high risk of social exclusion of children, young people and family with people in Aglona. The objective of the project was to promote prosperity and reduce the risk of social exclusion in Aglona by involving children, young people and families with children in learning creative and social skills. The main outputs of the project are as follows: • 3 summer camps for 45 children have been organized. • 9 creative workshops for 41 families with children have been organized. • 36 hobby workshops for 57 children have been organized. • 36 life skills classes for 49 children have been organized. • 25 parents have participated in "School of Life". • 41 young people have participated in "School of Motivation”. • 20 young people have participated in support group. • 101 people have participated in consultations of four specialists. The target groups were the children, young people and families with children. Other beneficiaries were the public in Aglona and Latgale.
