Description

Children and young people have limited opportunities to promote their welfare. This project will seek to reduce the social exclusion risks of children and young people, through building the community and sense of belonging to society by strengthening civil companies, gaining practical IT skills, learning the Latvian history and folklore and combining historical research with possibilities of modern technologies. The activities will include lessons of folklore, choreography, rhythmic, stage speech and design, IT classes, interactive lectures in psychology of fairy-tails and collectively binding classes in film-making, as well as tours to the places of legends and to the Fairy-tales Museum in Džūkste. There will be a show staged in Liepaja and the Liepaja district schools. The projects target group are children and young people(10–18 years) from Liepaja. The project partner will provide consultations and support for the project activities.

Summary of project results

The project was necessary to Liepaja children and young people from risk groups to give them an opportunity to participate in creative activities that will not only develpo children's talents and skills, but also promote creativity. Also through these innovative and creative activities are promoted quality of life and reduce the risk of social exclusion. Project had 30 participants from a wide variety of social groups - children from large families, single-parent families, orphanage, children with disabilities, mental retardation, physical disabilities, talented and unsuccessful with behavioral problems. Thus, the children learned commumications skills with a variety of children, further serve as a life skills to communicate and accept other people who also is a genuine integration. Children who participated in the project had the different levels of a development and is in present or have been previously in any of the crisi situations. By creating their own tales, they addressed the current issues at stake fot happen more easily exit from the crisis. By participating in each other's fairy tales creation and mock in the process, they learned to deal with social helplessness. While implementing the project became a theatrical perfomance "Journey through the fairy land". The show is already 5 times is shown in Liepaja school students, social care center for children.
