Description

There are two main issues to be addressed in order to reduce the risks of social exclusion for diabetic patients and to improve their social integration: access to information and public awareness through diabetes education. Aim: reduce the risk of social exclusion for children and adolescents with diabetes and improve their social integration. Main activities: a 7 day long educational summer seminar involving 28 children and young people and 12 parents; 4 informative seminars about treatment of diabetes and discoveries in technologies in regions of Latvia expected to be attended by 100 participants; improvement of the association’s website aimed to expand the availability of information for children and youth with diabetes as well as for teachers, parents and society; project publicity. The main beneficiaries of this project will be children and youth with diabetes and their parents

Summary of project results

The aim of the project: contribution to the integration in society and reduction of social exclusion of children and youth with diabetes by: • Organizing an informative and educational summer field seminar for children and youth with diabetes and their parents and relatives; • Increasing the accessibility of information about diabetes for children, youth, pedagogues, parents and society in general by updating the web page of the association; • Organizing 4 educational seminars on diabetes in all regions of Latvia. The place of implementation of the project: Latvia The results of the project: 5 informative seminars on diabetes for 186 interested persons have been organized. Two summer field seminars of 7 days for 28 children, young people and 12 of their relatives have been organized. 5 educational seminars on diabetes for 186 interested persons have been organized. The web page of the association has been improved. Publicity has been ensured, 3 press releases have been prepared and 20 articles have been published in the home page of the association. The target group of the project: 186 children, young people and children exposed to risk of social exclusion.
