Description

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) social dialogue has gaps at local/territorial level. OSH is also a condition for decent work. We expect to improve social dialogue and OSH at local level; to promote benefits of decent work and to reach a new quality of social dialogue. The project will achieve this by creating local networks supported by existing MSZOSZ county offices and mentored by local OSH coordinator; organising regular local OSH clubs; creating a “tool –kit” with special curriculum and training; disseminating good Norwegian and EU practices. The expected results are: 140 employees’ trained representatives; 1 tool kit (including special curriculum, good practices); Seven trained territorial OSH coordinators. The target groups are the employees and OSH representatives at undertakings and local employers. The partners are LO Norway, MGYOSZ (employers ‘organisation). The partnership will achieve strengthening bilateral relations and close cooperation.

Summary of project results

In Hungary, the terrain of social dialogue on occupational health and safety had significant gaps. The objective of the project was to improve social dialogue in the field of occupational health and safety and to make work more decent by improving knowledge in the six selected Hungarian counties and in the Central Hungarian region. The results of the project are sustained by the beneficiaries of the project activities and outputs. The project led to social partners signing 16 agreements promoting the project aim. With the help of 7 county coordinators a network and database of health and safety representatives was set up, 68 professional roundtables were organised to raise awareness on decent work involving 810 beneficiaries. By the end of the project one national level bipartite (MSZOSZ-MGYOSZ agreement), 12 company level bipartite and three local level agreements were concluded. They were concluded because the country coordinators intensified their efforts and deepened their relations with the employers in their region. 155 beneficiaries finished the project training gaining professional knowledge. In addition, tool-kits, training curricula, newsletters and booklets were developed for use after the project. Reaching a large number of stakeholders the project promoted the objectives of decent work.

Summary of bilateral results

The project was carried out in close cooperation with LO Norway. The Norwegian experience and knowledge were shared during the main project events. Sharing the Norwegian good practices has contributed to better understand the Nordic model and assess possibilities for applying good practices in Hungary. The Norwegian good practices were also included in the tool kits. The successful cooperation between the two partners during the project implementation has contributed to strengthen the bilateral relations and for a better visibility of results, both in Norway and in Hungary.
