Description

The main goal of the project is the realization of an investment, the development of the services at Palatinus Hotel, by implementing environmentally friendly technologies. Due to the investment the water and energy usage will be reduced significantly, water and air quality will be improving too. The main object of the project is the implementation of an innovative water cleaning equipment at Palatinus Hotel, to clean wastewater from our laundry (and sink) and rainwater collected from the roof of the building. This way water usage and pollution can be reduced by 1200 m3 on a yearly basis, our laundry will use no extra water and will not produce sewage. The AquaOzone 12 water cleaning device uses a multi step water treatment method, its efficiency and capacity what makes it a unique and innovative device. We would also like to improve the energy efficiency of our services and the building by creating a solar plant at the roof of the hotel, and updating the heating system. This way gas usage will be eliminated from the heating system, we will solely use electricity to produce hot water and to heat the building. Main activities of the project: - Replacing radiators to fan coil. The heating system will be suitable for the operation by a modern heating system, the energy usage of the building (our services) will improve significantly. - Creating a solar plant at the roof of the hotel, this plant will produce equal amount of electricity such as the previous system. - Replacement of non-energy efficient doors and windows, to improve the energy efficiency of the building and prepare the premises for electric heating and hot water production. - Installing the ozone generator, the innovative water cleaning device. The project is innovative both on a national and international level, right now no other hotel uses such technology that would be able to clean sewage water such effective way.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project is to significantly reduce the energy consumption and pollutant emissions of a hotel, thereby demonstrating a sample of environmental sustainability. In order to achieve this goal, 30 kW solar cells were installed, 65 shutters were replaced, heat insulation, ventilation, heat pumps, lightning protection and inverters were installed. The initially designed ozone generator technology was not implemented. The donor partner was International Development Norway, which assisted the development of the project with professional materials and popularized the results achieved abroad.
