Description
The Alföldi Tej Ltd. is a large dairy manufacturing company. Providing lighting in closed and dark areas and for the night shifts, it generates higher operating costs, high energy consumption, and the lack of natural illumination is a disadvantage for the emloyees. The objective of the project is to develop an individual, action-directed lighting system, based on the research of actual lighting practice at Alföldi Tej Ltd. The project includes the replacement of the old lamps to new led lights. The newly developed software which control the action-directed operation of lightening can be applied by companies facing the same issues. The new system aims to contribute to the reduction of air pollution, and intends to increase the use of renewable energy sources by installing solar panels as well. With the implementation of the project the Alföldi Tej Ltd. would like to provide a well-lit working space for the employees, which affects their mental state and work efficiency positively. Using the developed action-directed lighting system and software technology, the pollutant emission will be reduced. The annual consumption will be reduced by 40%, the lifetime of the system shows increase and the maintenance costs will be reduced by 90%. With additional benefits the useful visible light in areas will show 50-100% increase. Considering the large company size, the project generally reduces the air pollution of the region, the employees of the company will meet better working conditions. Transferring the innovative technology can contribute to the application of environmentally friendly methods, even at international level.
Summary of project results
The project was aimed to modernize the lighting system at Alföldi Tej Ltd. The main target was to have a better illumination of the workplaces by a lower energy consumption. The target where 100% realized. Project's output: Solar system, and innovative action-directed lightning system. Indirect pollutant emission reductions, indicators are met. Developed 1 new technology, 1 new green job, there was CO2 emissions reduced by 48.18%, 51.82% of the original volume, the NOx emissions decreased by 48.18%, 51.82% of the original volume, energy savings instead of the original 1.02MWh / year, to 0.49MWh / year, the heavy metal (Hg) usage where 0.54g instead of the original 5.37g, from 100% to 10%.
