The need to improve the attractiveness of regions acts as an incentive for an increasing number of destinations and stakeholders to turn towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices and policies. The main aim of this project is: to improve the qualification of Local Authorities’ vocational education and training (VET) activities and to support the implementation of quality assurance in VET. The proposed project also aims to strengthen the capacities of local authorities in rural areas in terms of economic and social development. The main objectives of the project will be: to give beneficiaries the chance to look beyond their own working environments and develop a European approach to vocational training, as well as the exchange of expertise and best practice, particularly in the fields of sustainable tourism and rural tourism. Our ctiy has a high number of unemployed inhabitants, and this project will help them in finding a new way through finding jobs in rural tourism and/or eco-tourism. The partnership in the project will facilitate the development and transfer of innovative practices.

Summary of bilateral results

We had a clear view about organization of local people in sustainable tourism. By the sharing of best practice examples, we gained new knowledge and experiences in the areas for which need in the development of local tourism, included vocational training needs. This project supported participants in training and further training activities in the acquisition and the use of knowledge, skills and qualifications to facilitate personal development within the scope of the rural tourism. This project enhanced the attractiveness of vocational education and training and mobility for decision makers, local authorities ,trainers ,businessmen and individuals to facilitate the understanding of sustainable tourism. To understand, that the cooperation is the most important in the development of local, sustainable tourism. Cooperation between the educational, governmental, business bodies and individuals is the key actor in the development of this part of tourism. Our host in Iceland took care for us, did her best to present the Icelandic point of view about rural tourism. Organized the workshops with different key persons, different areas of local tourism, and territories of south Iceland. Our Association also prepared well the meetings, the participants had clear view about the theme of this visit. They were interested in it. We decided in the future invite our Icelandic partners to Hungary, and follow this cooperation, put it to wider content with local municipalities and other NGO's , and interested individuals, firms, local people.
