Description

Hungarian green NGOs have no common online presence, their National Gathering has become outdated, its social base has been declined, and the young people has become less involved throughout the last decade. The project aims at improving this situation by the means of involvement of new actors and the introduction of innovative methods. New and modern communication platforms will be created, new and young actors will appear in the green community, participants will be energized and become more innovative and well-known. New contacts will be made with new green groups and young people, learning opportunities will be provided and innovative National Gatherings will be organized in 2015 and 2016.

Summary of project results

The project aimed at filling the most important infrastructural and capacity gaps that hindered the cooperation and development of the Hungarian green movement. It has created new and up-to-date online interfaces for the use of which dozens of stakeholders got involved, thus making communication and cooperation more effective between different organizations. Throughout 2015 an active networking work was carried out across the country, resulting in the identification of about 400 new groups that were not previously involved in green civic cooperation. In addition to electronic approaches personal meetings were realized in over 50 instances as well as at 7 regional workshops. In order to engage interested young people, five calls were announced for land art photography, video, guerilla gardening, article writing and miniprojects, for which nearly one hundred applicants submitted more than 170 works. In order to spread good practices and to develop the work of the organizations, seven thematic workshops were held, and the annual national gatherings of the Green Organizations (so called OTs) was renewed in 2015 and 2016 so that they were made more open and dynamic by the organizers that got reflected in the fact that 30% of the nearly one thousand participants attending the events were ones did not previously participate at any OTs. The new online interfaces, the network expansion work, the renewed Green OTs in 2015 and 2016 as well as the workshops implemented equally supported the fulfillment of the goals set in application. Thus, the project has effectively promoted the renewal and development of the green movement (and OT as its main forum), as well as the Hungarian green NGOs in many instances. The implementation has contributed not only to refresh the co-operation but also to expand its scope.
