Description

Today, looking away as a witness from verbal or physical aggression is very common. So it is very important to motivate young people to acquire civil courage. The goal of the project is to work with students from 6 secondary school classes and a group from a kindergarten, to draw their attention to human rights and the importance of social responsibility by implementing a non-formal educational program. To achieve the goals, 3 short films and an animated film will be created with the target group and a research about pro-social behavior and efficiency of the project. It all will be published in 300 copies and online as well. Direct target group are 15 5-6-year-old children, 180 secondary school students. Indirect target groups: the participating schools (about 3000 people), the families of the participants (about 1000), and the methodology will be challenging for more than 100000 teachers and trainers.

Summary of project results

Physical and verbal aggression is usual in school communities. The situation is worsened by those individuals who refuse to give help or take actions against, thus it is necessary to inform the youth about how they can deal with such situations. The main objective of the project was to teach the “civic courage” for these youth. The project promoter wanted to help the youth to learn new aspects, to teach them critical thinking and to make them aware of social differences. 6 schools applied to the project, several lesson plans were developed (themes were the problems and difficulties of women, homosexuals, homelessness, Roma and Jewish people). A methodological research was completed; the research paper is available on the organization’s developed webpage. There were special, 8 hours long workshops in 6 secondary school classes thus 186 youth were involved and 170 of them participated in the whole process. The project promoter made 2 short videos and an animation. A pilot program was completed in a kindergarten. For the dissemination 300 copies of the project brochure were published.
