Description

People who live in disadvantaged settlements buys cheap global mass-products in the mall in bigger towns thus the local farmers stay unknown and poor. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the social and economic role of the local people and the capacities of civic organizations. It aims to make the Small Basket program self-sustainable, and to generate positive opinions about the chemical-free and healthy food among the vulnerable groups of children and elderly people. 10 new collaborators and 6 new small basket communities are expected to join. The project promoter with the joined communities will implement charity actions; will hold workshops, community gardening, thematic days and community developer study trips. They will elaborate a communication campaign in which similar social enterprises will be introduced. The primary target group includes at least 108 consumers, 20 local farmers and volunteers, 100 new members and the representatives and members of civic organizations.

Summary of project results

People who live in disadvantaged settlements buys cheap global mass-products in the mall in bigger towns thus the local farmers stay unknown and poor. The main objective of the project was to strengthen the social and economic role of the local people and the capacities of civic organizations. The project promoter made cooperation with 6 disadvantaged settlements from Borsod county, the so-called basket carriers (local coordinators) were appointed. In the involved settlements (Arnót, Baskó, Boldva, Királd, Kurityán, Gömörszőlős) the supply of the Green Basket became available, the local farmers got new consumers, the organized programs and study trips developed the community and the common knowledge. Workshops, Small Basket Days, video presentations also contributed to the development of the local, countryside communities as they could meet other producer-consumer communities. They organized charity actions as well in order to help those in needs. The programs ensured that every age group met the bio products and learnt about their advantages. That is how the project promoter reduced the lack of information according to healthy and environmental friendly life-style and alternative purchasing mode; and helped with connecting local farmers and people. The project had a great effect on the whole civic sphere as civic organizations became aware of the advantages and opportunities in social enterprises which could be the key to the successful future.
