Description

The membership model of the organization needs to be reformed according to an organizational survey. Many members are inactive and most of them became supporters instead of active decision-makers, they do not take part in meetings and do not express their opinions. The project reflects another problem as well; the civic sphere depends on tenders thus the realizations of stable management of organizations means a huge challenge. The objective of the project is to create a new membership model for the Association that will contribute to the gain of income and makes the organization more independent from tenders. The new members (about 50 persons) will be able to represent the interest of their communities. Here they will become active participants, organizers and decision-makers of the organization. The project implementers will visit and make interviews in 10 civic organizations, will invite experts in order to develop different competencies, will refresh the communication strategies and will organize (green) programs and workshops. The project involves adults from Budapest who are interested in environment protection and in activities of civic organizations.

Summary of project results

The membership model of the organization hadto be reformed according to an organizational survey. Many members were inactive and most of them became supporters instead of active decision-makers, they did not take part in meetings and did not express their opinions. The project reflected another problem, too: the civic sphere depends on tenders thus the realizations of stabile management of organizations means a huge challenge. The objective of the project was to create a new membership model for the Association that contributes to the gain of income and makes the organization more independent from tenders. The project contributed to the treatment of the previously presented problems, as the Association developed a lot, and as a result was able to mobilize and activate more people, members than earlier. Now they are able to present their professional objectives and activties with more credibility. They created a new website, where donations can be concluded and this increases the comfort of their target groups, supporters, and probably will generate more income for the organization. The Association could successfully rebuilt its membership, now they have more members, supporters and active stakeholders. They organized group meetings and organizational development workshops for this purpose. They also mapped the current and potential future organizational model and the operation of their different systems, and laid down the basis of the strategy how to mobilize, involve volunteers and members. Altogether 20 organizations took part at the closing conference, and the life-path model of the organization was created which can serve as a model for other organizations as well. The modernisation of the membership was not only resulted in the strategy but also in a brand, which can be a sample for other civic organizations as well.
