Description

The work of the civil sector is hindered by the lack of resources, the reduced, changed civil funding systems, the communicative issues, and the weak embeddedness into society. The NGOs are not efficient in fundraising and in the usage of online community techniques. Our objective is to keep them and also those NGOs that are working with excluded groups on the webpage. The NGOs will use the available, well-functioning methods especially social communication and fundraising. They will be able to organize and implement fundraising campaigns, to reach and involve people who are related to their work. They will increase their resources, the number of their volunteers and their awareness. Communication training and workshop where the NGOs which are successful in fundraising will share their knowledge. After the launch of campaigns, the organization will mentor, encourage and correct the participating NGOs. The organization follows the implementation and the report on the initiation, also coordinates the exchange of experience with another groups. The target group involves NGOs that are working with excluded social groups and grass root civic initiations.

Summary of project results

In order to strengthen the social base of CSOs, the project promoter believes they should significantly increase their public awareness and the involvement of private donors in their activities. Adjukössze is a tool, which has already proven its worth. NIOK's website has been successfully used by CSOs, who were open for new tools and ready to involve communities. However, most organizations need to be mentored, trained and receive communication support to be able to use this tool. In cooperation with CSOs and experts, NIOK has implemented campaigns and developed a practical communication and fundraising toolkit to support their work. NIOK's goal was that the majority of CSOs using the website to be grass root organizations and those working with socially excluded people that have not had success in fundraising before. They also involved the successful CSOs that have already been successful in campaigns before in the knowledge transfer, which will give organizations a highly developed toolkit. The project significantly contributed to increase the fundraising capacities of civil society organization, more than 100 online campaign were concluded, and more than 160.000 user visited the ajdukössze.hu website, and could get an insight about the work of civil society organizations. Almost 80 civil society organizations were trained how to communicate with potential donors, thus indirectly introducing a new approach to the sector. This helped the conscious fundraising and network building of the civil society organizations. The training materials are available at the website and all the involved organizations got many materials they can use in their work further on. Altogether 9 million HUF was collected. The project focused on to transform the thinking of the involved CSOs about fundraising in the way, that it is not begging, rather than a strategic approach of the organizations how to mobilize resources to fulfill their mission and objectives. This process requires a professional, structured approach from the side of CSOs, and it will transform the opinion of the mainstream society on the long run in this respect. The CSOs were trained how to use effectively social media to promote their organizations and the cases they serve, and this way their embeddedness was increased and were encouraged to reduce their independency from governmental, state resources, financing.
