Description

We have experiences about legal exclusion of poor, Roma people living in disadvantaged villages in Heves county. They can not translate official letters, manage their cases, stand for their interests, rights. We experienced that many of them used legal assistance. Our goal is to provide available legal assistance for individuals and the community in 10 villages. We provide legal protection, take part in solving process of the problems; organize and train local groups to represent their interests. Our outcomes help poor Roma people’s skills develop, so they can they can manage their cases, stand for their rights and fight against violation of law and discrimination. Our outputs will be that we provide legal assistance and create activist groups in 10 villages, involve mentors, we examine, solve 30 cases, involve 120 people experiencing violation of law. The target groups are poor, Roma people and indirectly its self-governments, authorities, communal services. Our partner is the Association for the Village of Szúcs, as well as we will cooperate with other 9 NGOs.

Summary of project results

Socially handicapped people living in villages around Eger,have limited opportunity to obtain legal defence due to their montery and educational disadvantage. The project provided legal service for more than 10families in 10 villages.Working together with the legal advisor,local mentors learnt to deal with,and solve basic matters. Activists, including young people were trained to recognize cases,where legal support is needed,and learnt,how to reach human right representative organisations, and official legal services.The objective was to identify and give legal help at least 100 people in 10 villages who needs legal help,and intarcat legally in minimum 20 community matters.More than 100 families received legal advice and close to twenty community related cases were facilitated.The partner organization involved the mentors and activitsts living in involved villages,and theese dentified the people in need for legal help,and organized the meetings with the professional advisor.
