Description
The renewals and new investments are hardly accessible for people with disabilities, elders, bicyclist and parents with baby carriage in the town. Although Szolnok won the most livable town price in 2013, the citizens complaining a lot according to the access of public places and public service providers. The object of the project is to improve the access with equal chances of several public institutions. It aims to create the opportunity for people with special needs for managing independently their own public administration issues thus they become more active participants of society. The description of routes towards public institutions will help them to reach their destination easier. The project aims to operate a legal assistance service (216 hours), sensitizing programs (in 37 institutions) and prepares 74 pieces of audible maps. The project involves disabled people who face adverse circumstances and who needs special help in orientation and transportation, public and social officers, citizens of Szolnok, and the colleagues with disabilities of the project implementer organization and its partner organization.
Summary of project results
The new investments in Szolnok can hardly be used by people with disabilities, elderly people, bikers and mums with prams, or cannot be used at all. The main of the project was to create conditions in all public institutions to be accessible by anyone. The project implementers wanted to help the orientation of the target group in public institutions. The project implemented according to the original plans, the project implementers designed and created so called way descriptions (78 pieces), they created sound maps about these roads and uploaded them to their website. The project implementers also organized so called sensitization workshops for the staff of the affected public institutions. During the project implementation, the real usefulness of the created tools was the main principle, so the project implementers involved into the creation process people with disabilities regarding their eyesight or moving. Through this the products were absolutely customized. The project had an impact on the whole sector, as new tools, and knowledge has been created as a result of the project, which guarantees the equal opportunities of people with disabilities regarding their eyesight or moving on the long run.
