Description

The project promoter works on the representation and reaching out to LGBTQ individuals in general. RMF realized that the voices of those who are affected by multiple social inequalities remain unheard even within the LMBTQ community, e.g. roma or living with disabilities but also LMBTQ. The aim of the project therefore is to explore the particular experiences of those LGBTQ individuals who are affected by multiple inequalities (Roma, disabled and migrant) as these are totally unknown. First 60-80 interviews will be conducted. Based on interview outcomes 2-3 issues related to intersectionality would be determined and project groups will be organized around these specific questions. The project will provide sources and tools for the project groups to raise public awareness on the multi-dimensional nature of social inequalities, to carry out campiagns. The project thus contributes to solidarity between disadvantaged groups, helps to involve and mobilize people within and outside the LGBTQ community, develops direct connection between different groups of LGBTQ people committing to attitude change. The project groups work on the basis of democratic principles, learn about tools of advocacy, cooperate with other NGOs, participants seek to find and create solutions, organisations learn the innovative method of community organising, finally wider society learns about the problems of LGBTQ and other intersectionalities.

Summary of project results

They provided sources and tools to individuals to raise public awareness on topics and problems which are relevant for them. The projects raised awareness on the multi-dimensional nature of social inequalities and contributed to solidarity between disadvantaged groups, while affecting the majority as well. Furthermore it helped to involve and mobilize people, who will have the chance to experience tools for social change. Working together with LGBTQ people on the basis of democratic principles, learning about tools of advocacy, cooperating with other NGOs, participants created solutions which can be used to make these issues visible, to raise public awareness. SZMA learned about issues relevant in the lives of those who are less privileged, thus the NGO became one step closer to represent those groups as well. Those who participated in the small project groups learned about tools of advocacy and democratic principles.
