Description

The dramatically low birth rate and the importance family formation values in the society require a positive change in the public opinion. There are not any community places in the settlement where the families, teenagers and young adults can spend their free time actively. The objective is to improve the attitudes of society toward families, children and parenthood, to realize prevention programs according to negative assessment of family life, to ensure integrated services for young families with small children by establishing and organizing local initiations. It aims to ensure different club events monthly for parents and youngsters, counseling (about Children’s right, labour market opportunities, and carrier guidance), the operation of a day-care with volunteers during the events, and several community programs. The target group of the project includes 10 families with small children and 15 youngsters.

Summary of project results

The dramatically low birth rates indicate that there is transformation in society’s value system related to establishing families and raising children. These processes can be influenced on local level with different processes. Local civic organizations have an essential role in it, as they can serve with good role models, and can provide advices for the members of the communities they serve. They can provide daycare for children and help parents getting back to the labour market, and indirectly they can promote the value of becoming a parent in this way to the younger generations. The project promoter launched complex programs for families with small children and for youngsters, they launched a so called club. They also organized track orientation programs, and provided advices related to the labour market, for families they organized various programs with the themes of how to run the household effectively; reading as a tool for improvement of children; conflict resolution; healthy lifestyle; stress relief; how to obtain information, etc. Altogether 24 families took part at the different programs. The project promoter organized club programs for youngsters as well with the following topics: healthy lifestyle, career planning, traditions, conflict resolution, crime prevention. The project promoter involved the most marginalized members of the community into all the programs. As a result of the project the participants obtained such new skills and knowledge which help them to lead their life more successfully, and to spend their free time more efficiently. 4 parents could find jobs with the help of the project promoter as well.
