Description

We combine two effects of Retextil with the project: a) the person who does it - participates in the therapy - processes and re-arranges things both in his/her actions and in his/her mind b) the retextil product functions as a therapeutic device or tool. The objective is to reach the parents of children born with disabilities and give useful therapeutic tools for them. The process will be to develop therapeutic devices with early and childhood development professionals (the use and the development of the retextil technique, based on actual therapeutic experience), workshop and training in vocational education, curriculum development for SEN. Our outputs will be therapeutic community work (the installation, the frame): homemade set of devices, community treatment for the parents of the children born with disabilities, retextil worker training for the people living with special needs, rehabilitative employment for people with disabilities (new jobs), slow design therapeutic tools, generation of an active community for the children’s parents.

Summary of project results

The mothers and the their children born with disabilities - as the stakeholders of the project - don't have access to services that can be applied in their households. With the Community Ars Therapy they have gained such a knowledge that can help to improve their standard of living and self-development, that has no financial boundaries. Through learning the methods of the retextil technologies they were able to create therapical tools for their childrens (e.g.: swings, balls etc.), and they have also created such products, which they can use since then. The impact was to reach as many families through the "Biztos Kezdet Gyerekházak" system, as possible, the target group was involved to the project through their everyday routine: in the caring houses where they go every day. during the project many experts of the fields have been involved whose needs have been included in the developing strategy of the project besdie the ones of the parents. Beside the children and parents workshops, they have also ensured workshops for disabled people living in institutions, who have also learnt the technics, with which they can create their own poroducts as well.
