The income of families decreasing thus poverty is increasing, and segregation is appeared. Our objective is to improve the situation of 3 small settlements, to create new workplaces and livable circumstances. The project aims to give participants and their families more knowledge and experience, to strengthen the capacity of civic organizations and contribute to their development. It also initiates discussions between stakeholders, sets up conditions of cooperation and common planning. Common work that has a community building power brings positive changes into the life of the settlements. The planned activities are advent preparations, sewing workshops, tradition keeping events, green garden program, a Roma-day and exhibition. The target group includes the project implementer Association, several civic organizations from these settlements, local Roma people and youth in school age.

Summary of project results

There is a disadvantaged sub region in Zala County where the population is ageing: most of them are retired. The unemployment rate is over 15%: there are just few workplaces mainly public work, and the situation of the few micro enterprises is hopeless. The income of families decreasing thus poverty is increasing, and segregation is appeared. The objective of the project was to improve the situation of 3 small settlements: to create new workplaces and livable circumstances. The project aimed at providing knowledge and experience to participants and their families, strengthening the capacities of civic organizations and contributing to their development. The involved three settlements and civic organizations of these settlements established a social alliance in the frame of the project in order to create workplaces for the inhabitants of these villages. They wanted to create the conditions and possibility for those services which are essential in the everyday life, so that they organized sewing, gardening training, and cleaned up the settlements. They purchased all the needed tools, e.g. sewing machines, garden tools, etc. for these activities. The social alliance also formed its focus as managing the forests nearby, planting and producing herbs and raising animals, through these settlements can contribute to their sustainability and reduce unemployment rate.
