"The aim of the project is to spread the method of quick saliva test for HIV, HCV, and thus improve the at-risk population’s access to screening and counselling. We provide training on this method for NGOs focusing on IDUs in Budapest, Pécs, Szeged, Miskolc. We provide the equipement and implement the screening and counselling in the field together with the NGOs, and create the training material for the method (with peers and the partner NGOs). The 500 HCV, 500 HIV saliva test and questionnaire will provide a snapshot survey on HIV/HCV prevalence and risk behaviour in the communities reached by the NGOs. It will be used to force decision makers to implement adequate policies. Jogriporter F. will produce 2 short movies about the project and the training (will be part of the curriculum). The documentary about the project will support the advocacy and awareness raising activities of the project (media campaign press conference)."
Summary of project results
The aim of the project was to spread the method of quick test for HIV, STI (Syphilis and HCV), and thus improve the at-risk population’s access to screening and counselling. Peers (15) and NGOs (7) focusing on IDUs, sex workers and MSMs in Budapest, Pécs, Szeged, Miskolc were involved in collaboration. The main results achieved by the project: - new methodological manuals and starter kit to HIV and STI testing and counselling, - in partnership with Jogriporter Foundation and participation of peers Altalap Foundation produced short films informing and promote HIV, STI testing and counselling for the publicity, at-risk population and other professional service providers, - 510 HIV and STI rapid test with counselling, - snapshot survey on HIV/STI prevalence and risk behaviour in the communities reached by the partner NGOs Altalap Foundation provided training and equipements for the partner NGOs to start the HIV and STI testing and counselling.
