Description

The 95% of the victims of domestic violence are women. The reason of this is the gender inequality. To solve the problem, we have to be familiar with the exact definition, which is not widely known. Only a small percentage of the victims and the witnesses ask for their help, and most of these people do nothing. To attract people’s attention to the activity of the helper organizations, and to the information about the definition and the solutions of the problem. To activate the victims and the witnesses. To front the potential perpetrators with the nature of their act, and turn them to the ways of solutions. Increasing the number of the victims who get real help. Increasing practical activity about solving the problem on the side of victims and witnesses. Decreasing the number of potential perpetrators. We would like to make all the information about the mode of action, ways of the solutions and the helper organizations more widely known. Victims and witnesses of domestic violence, and also the potential perpetrators.

Summary of project results

We experienced huge difference in how supporter organizations conceive about the significance of the verbal violence, and how people in the streets noticing it. During our flashmob actions we tried to reduce this big difference and convince everybody that this is the first step where the violence starts and it is just getting worse. Verbal abuse is not the variant of bad mood or a style how he/she communicates, and it is definitely not love. This is a conscious or unconscious method which destroys the self-esteem in order to gain more power over the other person. These facts are lesser-known by those who have not dealt with this issue. If victims and perpetrators make it conscious, they can stop it and ask for help. During our flashmob actions we were glad to see that young adults and adolescents were interested in our little show. They asked a lot of questions and appreciated our activity. One of them wanted to stop the fiancé when he saw he starts to act aggressively. It was also an instructive experience when we made a flashmob on the market of Rákóczi Square, where we mostly find poor and not well-educated people. Unfortunately they are barely informed in this questions, although it is an everyday problem for them. Firstly they did not see the point in our action, but after some of them started to ask many questions and realized the essence of our flashmob. To generate questions, make them think, make this serious issue the part of the public speech; according to our plans this should be the first step in Hungary, where the society often very close-minded and neglectful in the topic of violence and rape. We drew the attention to the work of the supporter organizations like NaNE and Stop! Férfierőszak in many ways, so we hope that more and more people are going to ask for help and co-operate with them which must result a decreasing tendency in the number of the violent cases.
