Description

Incoherent,under-educated civil society to influence the political decision-making and non-transparent management and poorly developed procedures for the involvement of citizens and civil sector in the management of public goods in Istria,is the central problem.The project is in line with National strategy for creation of enabling environment for the development of Civil Society; Strategy for combating corruption; Open Government Partnership and Strategy of Istria County. Objective:Development of advocacy and participation in decision making and monitoring of public policies in the region of Istria. Outcomes:Increase visibility and strength of CSOs to influence political decision making; Conducted advocacy initiatives in the area of ​​good governance.Activities to strengthen the capacity of CSOs to influence policy-making,and advocacy for good governance in Istria will educate and strengthen CSOs, and increase their political influence. The target group are CSOs, public authorities and citizens of Istria.

Summary of project results

With the implementation of the project Strengthening the involvement of civil society and citizens in public policy in Istria the level of knowledge and skills of CPI and other CSOs in Istria was raised for competent influencing on political decisions. A dialogue was opened and cooperation established with local governments on the introduction of civic education in schools in Istria. Through active participation in the political discourse the visibility of the CPI was increased, influence on political processes in the County of Istria has been raised by advocating the principles of good governance. Through the imposition of issues to the public, transparent financing of CSOs by public authorities has been advocated through the development of transparent and clear procedures and criteria, and the Foundation for partnership and civil society development has been strengthened through transparent and inclusive election management of bodies and the inclusion of CSOs s in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the operation and development of the Foundation. Civil Platform of Istria has, through the implementation of the project, become a relevant stakeholder in society and a support to other civil society organizations.
