Description

The project meets the need to rethink the role of civil society organizations as key players in the construction of a more sustainable society in the context of the current crisis. One of the first steps to reach this objective is to achieve more sustainable and responsible organizations with better governance and management systems. The general objective is to help civil society organizations to improve their management system to achieve more sustainable organizations. The project expects to develop the core of a network from civil society organizations that will incorporate social responsibility criteria into their management practices as a means to improve their competitiveness and efficiency. This core network will grow up to include 50 organizations within three years. The project will address these challenges through the identification and development of 10 social responsibility criteria and their adaptation to the reality of the Spanish civil society organizations and their current needs. Direct beneficiaries are the organizations participating in the network. Indirect beneficiaries are the Spanish third sector as a whole.

Summary of project results

In those times, we need rethink the third sector as a key player in building a more sustainable society. The objective of this project has been to launch a third sector organisations network, to include social responsibility criteria in the management and activity development of the organisations, with the aim to improve their competitiveness and efficiency. The project has had a direct impact on the participating organizations (17) and indirectly in other third sector organizations that have access to the development tools created by the project. The main impact has been the improvement of the sustainability of the organizations that have participated actively in the project. Furthermore, improvement on the management process has helped to identify areas for improvement and to communicate to society the impact of its work. It has been, therefore, a direct impact on the daily life and and managenment of the participating organisations, which they believe will lead to greater sustainability. This improvement has, in turn, two impacts: on all activities developed by the organisations, beneficiaries and protagonists of the project, but also on the rest of the third sector organisations, being (the network) an example of transparency, accountability and communication of the return and impact of their activity. The hallmark of the project has allowed mutual learning processes, benchmarking and generating synergies that have helped organisations to work more effectively and efficiently and collaborate on issues of common interest.
