Description

The ETIXc R&D project focuses on the development of a prefabricated thermal isolation system for building enclosures with photocatalytic action, which helps to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and thus reach EU energy efficiency targets in this sector. The niche market on which the product is mainly focused is the thermal refurbishment of buildings. The new modular ETIXc system represents a technological advance in the construction field, both nationally and internationally. Its principal innovation lies in the design of a light architectonic and photocatalytic external enclosure, its joints between panels and the structural fixation to the existing façade. The final building solution will fit all CTE requirements. The project is implemented in partnership with PREHORQUISA, in addition to a technological collaboration with Tecnalia. It has three main phases: P1: Design ETIXc system. P2: Process manufacturing prototype and validation at real scale in the KUBIK by Tecnalia. P3: characterization of the system performance and the final system design.

Summary of project results

This Project was a wonderful opportunity for the company to consolidate in the cement manufacturers market around the world, as well as to increase sales by developing and launching a new product with high added value. The produced product responds to current and future interests of builders (flat and buildings), which are cost reduction, increased quality in the execution of works, reduction of environmental impact and increase of energy efficiency, mainly for rehabilitation. The company has developed a UHPC (Ultra High Performance Concrete) binder with several technical characteristics that differentiate it from similar products of competitors. It will be marketed directly by the company SOCIEDAD FINANCIERA Y MINERA, nationally and internationally. In addition, the company has worked on developing an innovative prefabricated thermal insulation to surround building with photo catalytic action, which will be commercially exploited by the company PREHORQUI, S.A. The new concrete binder will be used to develop the prefabricated thermal isolation system, as this binder has two essential characteristics to produce the prefabricated thermal isolation: it has ultra-high performance and it is light (much less heavy that the usual concrete).
