Description

The purpose of this project is to start Domus Dorpatensis`s social entrepreneurship preincubation program and through that inspire young people to start taking an interest in working in the field of social entrepreneurship. The three months long program helps to go from an idea to a practical business plan, through a training program, entrepreneurship counselling and different events. As a result of the project, 4-5 teams will reach defending their plan and at least 70% of them will get financial support to start their enterprise. The program has been planned with the Tartu Center for Creative Industries and the Good Deed Foundation that is also a partner in this project.

Summary of project results

The purpose of this project was to start Domus Dorpatensis`s social entrepreneurship preincubation program and through that inspire young people to start taking an interest in working in the field of social entrepreneurship. As a direct result of the project, a social entrepreneurship pre-incubation program was started in Domus Dorpatensis, which managed to encourage at least 24 young people participating in the program to start their own social or socially responsible enterprises. During the project, 6 social enterprise business plans where conducted, out of which 5 were successfully presented at the final presentation of the program. Due to the successful communication throughout the project, the awareness about and interest in the social entrepreneurship was raised mainly among the university students and social sector workers. This gives a favorable setting for the program’s sustainability and leads to think that there will be little to no difficulties in filling the program with high quality participants in the near future. Pre-incubation program was a necessary and a rather successful first stage of starting a permanent social entrepreneurship incubator in Domus Dorpatensis, a goal that the organization reached in the beginning of February 2014.
