Description

Police of the Czech Republic has fragmented structure of information technology with more than 60 information systems that are used in connection with the fulfillment of legal obligations. Each of these systems has been developed by different methodology and a limited degree of success in compliance with established project deadlines. Each system contains partial information that is accessible only within the system; it is very difficult to search for the relevant context and information across systems. Consolidated implementation of development and test environment created within this project will ensure a comprehensive system solution that maximally support the development, modification, or extending the functionality of software applications, not only access to the source code, but also to other substrates documenting the process of creating software. Project will help in accelerating the development and deployment of applications, allowing parallel development and involvement of developers dislocated workplaces, Increase safety of the developed applications etc. It will be managed by purchase of the equipment and training of the staff.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to accelerate data handling and achieve single management of data within the Police structures in the Czech Republic through development of an analytic platform for the use of information systems to their full capacity. The main objective of the project which was the improvement and more efficient use of current information resources, accelerated data handling in the context of everyday Police work together with accelerated and improved data exchange in the context of international cooperation was reached through the purchase of an automated integrated security search engine to access all the databases of the Police of the Czech Republic. 37 police officers were trained to use, develop and adjust the engine as well as to pass the acquired knowledge on to other police officers and IT specialists within the relevant units of the Czech Police. Furthermore, consolidated development and test environment was developed to customize the purchase security search engine and to develop and test new applications to the information systems by the current staff of the Czech Police. The whole new platform is a mean of introducing internationally recognized standards and significant improvement of process efficiency.
