Description

The project addresses the need of the applicant to boost its capacity and the capacity of its 30 members - community centres (CC) in Sliven Municipality. The project aims at boosting the applicant’s organizational, legal and financial competence via a series of trainings of the community centre workers. First, the project will be presented to the local community, 50 community centres, NGOs, local authorities and the media. Second, at least 30 CC workers will attend 5 trainings in institutional development of CC, legal framework, financial management and control, advocacy, project development and management. Third, a strategy for the development of CCs in Sliven Municipality will be prepared. Fourth, a forum with the stakeholders will be held to discuss CCs as centres of the local community. Finally, experience and good practices will be exchanged with CCs in Gabrovo Municipality. The project will benefit the applicant’s members, other CC, NGOs and the local community.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the need of the applicant to boost its capacity and the capacity of its 30 members - community centres (CC) in Sliven Municipality. The project boosted the applicant’s organizational, legal and financial competence via a series of trainings of the community centre workers. Increased organizational, legal and financial competence of the staff of 30 community centres was developed. The staff members of 34 community centres acquired new knowledge and skills about the way to run their centres and boost their capacity in their work. The community centres updated their mission and vision. Monitoring and advocacy skills as well as skills to influence local public policies were developed and applied. The strategy for the development of the community centres in Sliven Municipality was prepared and has been examined by Education, Science, Culture and Religion Department and it is waiting to be adopted by the Public Council. The association had a website developed, which, in addition to the association’s Facebook and YouTube accounts, would provide help better disseminate information and follow the work of the association and its members as well as boost its publicity. The project team as well as the Managing Board of the association were trained in organizational, legal and financial competences as well as to apply the skills acquired.
