Description

The project addresses the need for NGOs to have and use a standard approach to evaluate their performance. The project aims at raising the organizational and financial sustainability of NGOs by means of an evaluation tool developed, tested and introduced in the NGOs. First, a methodology for the evaluation of the impact of the NGO activities will be developed. Second, 3 NGOs delivering social services to different target groups in 3 different regions will test the methodology. Their staff will be trained to test and use the methodology. Third, principles and procedures for the involvement of the stakeholders in the evaluation of the impact of NGOs will be developed. Next, 30 NGOs delivering social services will be trained to evaluate their performance. Finally, the Principles and Procedures drafted will be disseminated among the stakeholders at a national conference. The project will benefit the NGOs delivering social services and more than 234 users of their services.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the need for NGOs to have and use a standard approach to evaluate their performance. The project activities helped develop and disseminate a tool to evaluate the impact from the NGO work. In addition, representatives of NGOs involved with social issues were trained and improved their skills to do research, analyze and sum up the opinion of the target groups, citizens and institutions about the benefits of their work. Thus, the NGOs will have the opportunity to regulate their work and make their services more efficient. The beneficiary organization developed its resources for self-monitoring and assessment of its performance towards achieving its missions and working for the benefit of the public and had capacity built to change the working environment. The following methodological tool was developed: Principles and procedures to include the target groups, citizens and institutions in the local community in the impact assessment of the NGO work.
