Description

The project addresses the need to actively involve young people in the civic processes in Bulgaria and encourage them to express their opinion. The project aims at raising the awareness of young people via the peer-to-peer approach through a series of events. First, 12 young people will be selected. Second, they will attend a 3-day training on active civic engagement focused on civil rights and obligations. Next, they will prepare 12 topics (the constitution, education and youth policy, healthcare, the European values) to be presented at the 2 forums. Third, they will attend a 3-day training on communication skills (public speaking, PR and work with the media). Fourth, 2 forums will be held in Sofia and Plovdiv to convey peer-to-peer messages. Finally, the project outcomes will be promoted on a website. The project will benefit the young people involved, the public, the media and decision-makers. The partner will contribute with its expertise and experience.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the need to actively involve young people in the civic processes in Bulgaria and encourage them to express their opinion. The project was targeted at building a community of bearers of change, young people with ideas and a desire to promote them as well as a firm civil position, as well as filling in the gap, the absence of a place/tool/platform to help further encourage motivation to get involved in social changes. 12 young people who took part in the project developed their skills for structuring a thesis and a clear message, learnt various methods for civil activity and presenting their founded decision. The young people disseminated their message via the public forums KLYUCHe (Key) among other young people and followed the approach of inspiring and motivating peer-to-peer examples. A website was created under the project with the necessary functionality for the organization and promotion of such events; two events of KLYUCHe Forum were held and left behind 12 promotional videos and 13 videos from presentations of the participants on YouTube; a video blog (vlog) of the project participants was created and more than 20 brief own videos of the participants were posted. Many of the project participants regularly join as volunteers in other activities and thus will continue to further develop their knowledge about the civil sector and activity.
